Our Mobile Maintenance Solution at MAINTAIN 2012

Plattling, September 10, 2012

Plattling-based SAP developer T.CON GmbH & Co. KG will once again participate as an exhibitor at this year’s MAINTAIN, the international industrial maintenance trade show that will be taking place on October 16 – 18, 2012 at MOC in Munich. The IT service provider will be showcasing the many advantages of its MMM (Mobile Maintenance Management) mobile maintenance solution, which is seamlessly integrated into SAP ERP’s Plant Maintenance (PM) module, at Hall 2, Booth 202. For instance, the company’s consultants will be presenting new functionalities in the streamlined and easy-to-use software that make it possible to reflect ad-hoc repairs (including time completion confirmations) and the installation and removal of spare parts (equipment). They will also be showing how unscheduled SAP maintenance work orders can be selected and processed as necessary.

“Our mobile maintenance solution enables companies that use SAP ERP to establish efficient maintenance processes with full IT support, effectively contributing to a proactive predictive maintenance strategy. This, in turn, enables maintenance technicians to carry out their daily work quickly, easily, and extremely efficiently,” explains Karl Fuchs, General Manager at T.CON GmbH & Co. KG. Accordingly, the application, when installed on a PDA, ensures that there is a smooth flow of information between on-site technicians and the SAP ERP system. This not only improves data quality, but also ensures that all maintenance work is documented in a fully traceable manner, making it possible to detect and fix faults and problems early on. The result? Higher system and machine availability and lower downtime-related costs, not to mention optimized maintenance intervals and the elimination of unnecessary inspection hours.

The solution features a convenient user interface that is optimized for touch input, enabling technicians to directly enter maintenance information such as completion confirmations, malfunction reports, and repair actions directly for each maintenance point. To make this even easier, systems and machines are identified by the technician’s PDA with wireless RFID scanners. In addition, maintenance information can also be entered offline, in which case it will be temporarily stored on the mobile device until an online connection is established again, at which point the information will be immediately transmitted to the SAP system and updated there. Likewise, technicians can use their PDA to access the detailed information for each maintenance point that is stored in the ERP system, including master data, the most recent reports, measured values, technical documentation, and work instructions.

Finally, the mobile application also stands out because of its streamlined and flexible architecture, the result of it being directly connected to the SAP system. This eliminates the need to procure and install additional middleware and set up a separate data management system, resulting in lower IT costs for companies. Moreover, the mobile maintenance solution can be quickly adapted to specific customer needs, which is why a large number of renowned clients, including a leading German engine manufacturer, have chosen MMM for SAP ERP to boost the efficiency of their maintenance processes.
