Steinbeis Papier is betting on maximum process integration with MES CAT

Plattling, July 21, 2015

For many years, Steinbeis Papier GmbH has relied on SAP ERP for its administrative processes. In the area of production, however, the traditional medium-sized paper manufacturer in Glückstadt an der Elbe, Germany saw itself as being forced into action. From the company's ecological commitment to produce magazine papers, office papers and inkjet papers from 100% recycled paper came the need to include optimum energy and raw-material use in the planing and feedback processes. The result, which was conceived and implemented together with experts from T.CON, is clear. In addition to the SAP ERP and SAP APO systems already in use, T.CON has also implemented its MES Suite (developed based on SAP NetWeaver) and TRIM, which was perfectly tailored to SAP APO and MES CAT. The planing blocks generated in SAP APO are planned in greater detail in TRIM and then supplied with feedback and process data automatically wherever possible using the very flexible MES CAT. The result is a completely continuous flow of quantities and values, from the delivered end product to the raw paper formula ingredients used. In another project phase, Steinbeis will address the topics of quality management and quality trim together with T.CON. An important factor for success was the feeling of having worked together as a single team which was shared from the very beginning by everyone involved from Steinbeis and T.CON. This close cooperation enabled all of the project's objectives to be achieved to the fullest extent.
