Meeting Point of the Paper Industry

PTS Paper and Board Symposium 2016, Munich

Plattling, August 9, 2016

The PTS Paper & Board Symposium (September 6-7, 2016 at Leonardo Royal Hotel in Munich) will be one of the highlights among the events offered to paper producers and converters this autumn. The paper industry is in a period of transition and is faced with a multitude of different challenges and tasks.

The Internet of Things (IoT) is changing the whole face of our value chain and the future of paper both as consumer good and material needs to be redefined.

T.CON supports the PTS Paper & Board Symposium 2016 with a lecture on

"Requirements for Industry 4.0 processes in the manufacturing of paper and board"

Abstract

Future projects and government initiatives published these days are gaining importance and confront the pulp and paper industry with the next wave of industrial evolution. Computerization of manufacturing is progressing. Smart factory or IIoT (industrial internet of things) are buzzwords cropping up with increasing frequency at the moment.

Taking part in this kind of industrial evolution demands for prerequisites and requirements. Their characteristics, and architecture must fit. IT systems and interfaces are pinpointed in peculiarity and interaction.

The lecture will drill down to the “how-to” of joining production and machine data by using shop floor interfaces based on existing tools and standards.

With examples from the comparable and related businesses of paper production, the mayor requirements, strategies, and architectures for sustainable business processes in manufacturing pulp and paper are explained.
