T.CON Presents the IT Trends of the Future for the Manufacturing Industry at the 2012 Annual DSAG Congress

Plattling, August 24, 2012

With the slogan “Keep Up with Your Production Operations – Anytime, Anywhere,” Plattling-based SAP developer T.CON GmbH & Co. KG will be showcasing its SAP solution and consulting portfolio for manufacturing industry companies at the Annual DSAG Congress (September 25 – 27, 2012, Messe und Congress Centrum Bremen, Hall 5, Booth K7). The company will be focusing primarily on manufacturing execution systems (MES), enterprise mobility, and how to quickly optimize supply chains with the help of pre-configured SAP Rapid Deployment Solutions (SAP RDS).

“Just like everywhere else, things are getting faster and faster in the manufacturing industry, and the business is getting more and more complex. That is why companies with production operations need to be able to respond to changes in the market quickly and flexibly while continuously improving their processes,” explains Karl Fuchs, General Manager at T.CON GmbH & Co. KG. This, in turn, requires for certain prerequisites to be met: comprehensive and transparent processes from the shop floor all the way to financial accounting, a real-time overview of production processes and workflows, and logistics chains that are optimized in line with MES KPIs. And that’s without taking into account the increasing importance of easy and quick mobile access to data and business applications while on the go.

T.CON’s MES CAT Suite, which is fully integrated into SAP ERP, is designed to effectively help manufacturing companies with international operations improve their production processes continuously and systematically. To do this, the MES solution ensures that data from production-related systems in production locations throughout the world can be seamlessly incorporated into the central SAP system’s information flow in real time. This provides a clear overview of production processes and workflows and up-to-date production KPIs that can be accessed at any time practically at the touch of a button.

Meanwhile, the SAP RDS for Advanced Planning and Scheduling (APS) and SAP RDS for global Available-to-Promise-Check (gATP) Rapid Deployment solutions ensure that processes along the entire logistics chain can be made more efficient. SAP RDS for APS guarantees reliable and effective production scheduling, ensuring that machine load utilization levels and warehouse stocks along internal supply chains will be optimized. SAP RDS for gATP-Check, on the other hand, carries out automatic availability checks for end products, ensuring that delivery dates can be reliably met. These cost-effective starter packages are based on the SAP Advanced Planning & Optimization (SAP APO) application, part of the SAP SCM range of solutions. They consist of pre-configured software and set implementation services and can be implemented in 14 to 16 weeks.

In addition to this, T.CON will be showcasing a number of mobile solutions at the Annual DSAG Congress. These solutions are designed not only to increase productivity, but also to provide business users with access to real-time data from the SAP backend anytime, anywhere, and from any mobile device. For instance, “MES CAT mobile” enables managers to get an overview of the latest orders, machine utilization levels, and important MES KPIs on an iPad with a single swipe. In addition, a graphic planning table, which can be used on iPads and other tablet computers, provides clearly laid out information on every SAP work order that is running on a machine or is scheduled for it.

Two other important mobile add-on solutions are “Mobile Maintenance Management” (MMM) and “Mobile Warehouse Management” (MWM), which are seamlessly integrated into SAP ERP and enable companies to establish transparent, IT-assisted maintenance and warehouse management processes. The MMM application, which is designed to be installed on PDAs, helps implement proactive, predictive maintenance strategies while making it possible for maintenance technicians to do their daily work quickly, easily, and efficiently. Meanwhile, the MWM application enables warehouse employees to conveniently post stock placements, stock transfers to production bins, picking operations, and repacking operations in real time with a tablet, PDA, or other mobile device or forklift terminal.  This data is then sent automatically to the ERP backend, where it is updated, improving data quality.

And, finally, T.CON’s consultants will also be going into the subject of business travel, which has become a necessity for many employees today. At the congress, they will be showing how the workflows involved in recording travel expenses and preparing expense reports, as well as having supervisors review and approve them, can be made easier and faster using mobile apps based on the SAP Mobile Platform (Sybase Unwired Platform and SAP NetWeaver Gateway).
